Alef Lam which means THE in Arabic is a 15-minute documentary about the displacement of Nubians during the High Dam project construction in Egypt in the fifties. Between keeping up with the government unfulfilled promises for almost a decade and their undying desire to return to their homeland by the Nile, Alef Lam puts aside the stereotypical cheery touristic image of Nubians and takes the audience in a journey of self-identification, a journey where Nubians try to find their "THE".
